Thanks to Powerboat P1/P1 Offshore, offshore racing fans will be able to catch the Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix on Sunday, June 27, in real-time as well as later this year. In addition to handling all aspects of race management, according to a press release from the United Kingdom-headquartered organization, and teaming up with Visit Sarasota County to promote the Southwest Florida event—the P1 group will Livestream the competition on its Facebook page and produce and distribute a television program on the event.
In addition to Livestream coverage, the Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix will have its own one-hour television program.
The one-hour show will air on the CBS Sports Network and Bally Sports Regional Networks in the United States. The program also will air internationally on what the release described as “leading sports channels.”
The Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix is the third of six races in the American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series. It is a key element of Suncoast Summer Fest, formerly the Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix Festival, which benefits Suncoast Charities for Children.
“Our aim will be to deliver outstanding race action and entertainment,” said Azam Rangoonwala, the chief executive officer of Powerboat P1, in the release. “We are very much aware that sports tourism plays a major role in the local economy. In addition to attracting visitors to the city, we will help to raise the profile of the
Sarasota region through television coverage on both.”
Air times for the Sarasota coverage will be announced later this month. Fans can catch the TV program chronicling the APBA series season-opener in Cocoa Beach on June 19-20.
