We are excited about the partnership with P1 Offshore, for production at Lake of the Ozarks Shootout. This partnership enables us to add multiple cameras on the course, including live drone footage. The Shootout is the largest unsanctioned boating event in the U.S. and most would say the world,. We are thrilled about the national exposure that this partnership brings to our event.

While marine industry veteran Bob Teague and announcer Rod Smith will still man the broadcast booth for the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout presented by Performance Boat Center next year, the 35th annual event will have a new production team. Powerboat P1, which holds the marketing and production rights to Class 1 offshore racing, will handle media production for the two-day aquatic top-speed contest on the Central Missouri waterway.

Based in the United Kingdom, Powerboat P1 will produce a television program to air on CBS Sports Network and the Bally Regional Sports Network in addition to livestream coverage from both days. Live coverage of the 2023 Lake of the Ozarks Shootout will be carried on the event’s Facebook page and a currently-under-construction new YouTube channel, as well as on local cable channels in the area.
“I went to the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout last year and saw what a big event it has become,” explained Thomas Covington of Powerboat P1. “We figured through our relationships with CBS Sports and Bally Regional Sports Networks we could help bring it to a wider audience and make it easier to access.”
The Shootout is an internationally renowned event and we are excited to be involved and be able to expand the reach to a national and global audience both on the livestream and via our television broadcast platform. And I can’t wait to attend the event in 2023.
Powerboat P1, CEO
According to Lake of the Ozarks Shootout executive director Leah Martin, the television program will air in September.
“We are excited about the partnership with P1 Offshore, for production at Lake of the Ozarks Shootout,” said Leah Martin. “This partnership enables us to add multiple cameras on the course, including live drone footage.
“The Shootout is the largest unsanctioned boating event in the U.S. and most would say the world,” she added. “We are thrilled about the national exposure that this partnership brings to our event.”
Registration for the Shootout competition on Saturday and Sunday, its Friday poker run sponsored by Poly Lift Boat Lifts and the Wednesday evening Shootout On The Strip street exhibition and celebration backed by Waves And Wheels opened yesterday.
Despite that this year’s runs on Sunday shut down early thanks to rain and wind, the 2022 event produced 228 passes on the three-quarter-mile course.
“This event gets bigger and bigger each year and 2023 will be an amazing year for the Shootout,” Martin said. “We are growing our Shootout team as well. Rickie Smith recently joined us as the assistant director. He has already been a tremendous asset to our organization.”
Added Azam Rangoonwala, the chief executive officer of Powerboat P1, “The Shootout is an internationally renowned event and we are excited to be involved and be able to expand the reach to a national and global audience both on the livestream and via our television broadcast platform. And I can’t wait to attend the event in 2023.”
